Israel is mulling a full-fledged offensive in Rafah which it says is necessary to achieve its war aims and to destroy Hamas completely. 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the military's plan for an attack on Rafah last month, but there's still no publicly announced time frame for an assault. 

But currently, 1.5 million Palestinians are taking refuge in the city located in the southern part of the Gaza strip. 

A ground offensive could lead to mounting death toll and Israel's allies including the United States have warned Israel about it. 

So will Israel go ahead with the offensive? Will the Rafah offensive end the war in Gaza?

Chinese President Xi Jinping has left for his landmark state visits to France, Serbia and Hungary, which marks his first visit to Europe in five years. 

With his latest trip, Beijing seeks to rebuild its ties with European countries. 

Discussions around Ukraine, trade and investment are likely to dominate talks during Xi’s visit. 

He will land in Paris on May 6th where he is expected to meet his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. 

Following his France visit, Xi will head to Serbia and Hungary. 

Washington will be closely watching Xi’s Europe trip.
