I got this xun years back along a trip to Singapore. I bought it on the streets of China town. Although the store owner and I could not speak the same language, we spoke through music when he picked up a guitar and I played along with this vessel flute. I love the texture and the little detail of impressed leaves! Check out my recent video with this! 

This video deserves more views! It is a lovely demonstration of the performance and creation of a three-holed xun - a style traditional to the Yi Ethnolinguistic group. The gentleman in the video is Mr. Zhang Chaoxiu of Yunnan province, southwest China. 

Another crazy Japanese surplus store find - a Thousand Leaves alto C ocarina in perfect condition. Made of red clay, these are lovingly handcrafted and burnished by Minoru Chiba. These usually sell for 14,000 yen with a 2 month wait list, but I got it for 250 pesos (5 USD)!  I'm looking forward to recording music with this beauty 😍 

What a way to start the year :D thank you to all the viewers who helped me hit the 3000 subscriber mark! 3000 is small compared to the millions that big youtubers get, but the thought of 3000 people who enjoy my music and adventures enough to subscribe still blows my mind! It's the love and support of all of you that keep my YouTube channel (and mental health) afloat.
