Alice Faye in a publicity photo for the 20th Century Fox film 'LILLIAN RUSSELL' (1940) 🎬. Before Betty Grable and Marilyn, Faye was the first Fox blonde. Like Ann Sheridan, there is something very down-to-earth and no-nonsense about Faye that comes across on screen and she had one of the most velvety voices of the era 🎶

Splurged a little too much on this book, but I'm excited to dive into it. I've decided that two weeks of pleasure reading will be my reward for getting out another video this month. What have you got in your to-read pile? 📚😊

If you've watched 1947's THE UNFAITHFUL or checked out my video discussing the film, you might have noticed that its ending presents a direct challenge to several mandates of the production code. According to the regulations imposed on film studios, characters could not get away with murder, and adulterers could not find happiness. These mandates, intended to uphold moral standards, were rigorously enforced during the era in which THE UNFAITHFUL was produced. However, the film disregards these conventions. I delve into this in a new post on the Screen Spectator Substack. ➡️ https://screenspectator.substack.com/p/the-unfaithful-vs-the-production?r=26w045

FINALLY, a new video is out! 🥳 After the stress of worrying about my computer passed, I really enjoyed spending this time with the lovely Ann Sheridan in one of her best dramatic roles. So click here ➡️ https://youtu.be/bxcd6chGlhE?si=OKSDJ... and dive into the story of 1947's THE UNFAITHFUL, the crime film that combatted the Post-WW2 Divorce Crisis.
