Today, I'm thrilled to reunite with my friends on board the 'Scintilla Maris', a remarkable 46-meter, 499GT hybrid propulsion expedition yacht.

Originally launched as a robust North Atlantic fishing trawler by Damen Maaskant Shipyards in Holland in 1989, she was one of the last in a series of eight that symbolised the pinnacle of powerful, sturdy, and seaworthy fishing vessels.

In 2023, the same yard relaunched her after a comprehensive rebuild that preserved only her steel hull, transforming her into an 'Eco-Explorer' that combines comfort with style.

Now a RINA-classed Commercial Yacht with a Green Plus Notation and Polar Code compliance, she’s ready to go anywhere.

Having created two videos about this beauty—one during the final phase of her rebuild and another during a mini sea trial—I feel intimately connected to her epic transformation. These videos have now amassed nearly 700,000 views (link in comments).

It's a joy to have her docked in my home city of London, and I can't wait to step aboard once more!

If you are looking for a bespoke explorer yacht that has enough cargo space for your Harley Davidson(s) PLUS months of dry storage provisions, then M/Y Sirius is a boat that will not just meet your needs, but exceed them!

She has an LOA of 25.8 metres, a draft of 1.6 metres and a beam of 6.6 metres.

My friends at De Valk Yacht Brokers were kind enough to let me jump on board this unique boat to shoot some footage and I am pleased to say that the yacht tour video will be uploaded to my channel this Friday!
