The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has issued a Severe (G4) Geomagnetic Storm Watch for this evening, May 10th, after the first of several solar outbursts hit Earth earlier today.

Besides affecting communication and navigation systems throughout the weekend, this rare event might bring stunning aurora displays as far south as Alabama and Northern California!
