HUGE NEWS JUST DROPPED IN A SPECIAL DEV-PLAYER COUNCIL: Here's the summary, but I will discuss in full during a live stream TODAY 1530 UTC (subscribe so you don't miss it and tell a friend).  The devs have indicated we can share everything that was revealed in this meeting (I asked literally twice to confirm lol).  Here's the very short summary of what you need to know 'till we stream today:
1) 2 new formations are coming, with the intention of closely pairing with commander play-style.  New formations will likely be more niche, whereas existing formations are more broadly applicable.
2) Rare-quality inscriptions are coming.  If I understood correctly, they're intended to be more tailored to each formation when compared to the common inscriptions we have today.  They're intended to bridge the power gap between common inscriptions and legendary inscriptions.
3) More events will be coming to get inscriptions/armaments
4) Equipment Cost for Iconic Upgrades may work as follows (dragon's breath bow was used as the example - I would assume the material cost may vary depending on the slot):
Iconic 1) Iconic Crystal
Iconic 2) 20x material & 1x blueprint
Iconic 3) 35x material & 1x blueprint
Iconic 4) 50x material & 1x blueprint
Iconic 5) 80x material & 1x blueprint

Here’s the vid link for the last time I played ‘In search of wonders’ (max pulls)   if I remember correctly, it felt like master’s tools was a better bundle because you could choose the formation for ALL of your pulls (whereas the wonders event was mostly random).
