Part two of my adventure in East Sooke including a cabin at the edge of the continent, and some new critter friends.

I have been experimenting with the idea of creating small stories with my images when I’m out on an adventure instead of focusing on just the epic “banger” hero shots. The images on their own are okay but when they’re all strung together you get a better vibe for the scene and the feeling of the day. But most importantly, it changes the way that I approach shooting when I’m out and it has given me a surge of excitement to get out there and shoot! Do you want to see more of these little “series” here on YouTube?

Fog/mist is a photography cheat code… agree or disagree?

I like to call this one “King Of The Forest” and I imagine this little guy secretly running things behind the scenes.

Note to self (and others): take advantage of those little ideas and thoughts where you think “this could be cool”. Actually go try! Follow through on those feelings. Generally, something fun can come of it. These photos happened on a particularly foggy morning when I happened to have an extra hour before I needed to be anywhere. I thought, “this fog might be a cool opportunity to shoot something” and 9 times out of 10 I would probably ignore that voice and just get on with my day. Little did I know, I would take some of my favorite self portraits that I’ve snapped in a while. And of course a few shots of my new boots that I’ve been loving lately.

Who doesn’t love a good fog 🤷🏻‍♂️? I’ve been loving the misty, moody vibes we’ve had around Vancouver island lately. Seeing this lonely ship in the mist had me making up pirate stories in my head!
