Coming this week (now that the weather has finally improved);
 - The Foxeer Aura 7 (TLDR: I'm impressed)
 - Making a 6S Li-Ion pack for the Aura 7 and will it be worth it?
 - Walksnail Avatar, my testing and honest opinion
Plus some other stuff that's been in the pipeline for a while.

Sorry but there were technical issues with my latest upload. I'll re-upload tomorrow.

ADSB alarm is working -- yay! Now I have to just tidy it up and make a few decisions about the final version.

Which would you prefer:

1. a more expensive unit that was fully stand-alone and that had built-in GPS and a touch-screen interface to allow the setting up of intrusion-zones and displaying useful information

or

2. a simpler/cheaper unit that connects to a smartphone app via wifi or bluetooth so that your phone can provide your location data and the user-interface. In this case, if an intrusion was detected the alarm itself would beep but you'd need to get your phone out to see where the approaching aircraft was and other details.

Let me know which would be most useful.

Parts have arrived for the ADSB alarm system so I'll be making a start on that in the next few days. Stay tuned for updates!

I mentioned the possibility of making a DIY electronics project in the near future and I've got two ideas in my head right now:

1. an FPV/RC repeater system to allow glitch-free FPV flying behind buildings, trees, contours and other things that might otherwise block your video and/or RC signal.

2. an ADSB alarm system that would clip on your belt and alert you whenever an ADSB-equipped aircraft came within a designated distance and below a designated altitude -- super handy for FPV pilots who fly without a spotter.

Thoughts?

The new RadioMaster T16 has arrived for review. Are there any things you'd like me to specifically take a close look at? I will be comparing it to the new Jumper T18 when that arrives (hopefully next week).

Just an update on the Jumper T16 and the MotiveRC R8SB receiver, both of which I reviewed recently. Today I flew 2.5Km with this combo and the RSSI levels were still around 50 on the Jumper. Pretty impressive! My Taranis QX7 and X-series receivers start getting sub-45 RSSI levels (and resulting warnings) at well under 2Km). The only negative I've noticed is that the MotiveRC receiver can show a little swamping at very close range (typically half a metre or less). I'm pretty happy with this combo right now.

Watch for another "T16-inspired" transmitter being reviewed on this channel shortly.

Just sent the DJI digital system back (it was only on loan). I have a couple more videos in the reel on that but it's kind of disappointing that DJI *gave* systems to others (who no longer use them) and I (who would have been using it regularly and featuring it in videos) don't qualify for such privilege :-) LOL... I see that the FatShark digital system is now in open Beta. No doubt they'll also be sending units out to selected users but I suspect I won't be on that list either -- perhaps because I don't run affiliate links or buy into the "it's free so it must be good" mindset. Fear not, if/when I can get my hands on one, I'll give it a full and honest review -- as I did with the DJI system. Stay tuned for that :-)
