Why would you need defence in no damage fight?
To maximize the effect of Nifleheim and Svartalfheim enchantments (set of 3 each).
Niflheim enchantments increase your melee damage when your health is above 75% based on your defence so you have more defence you deal more melee damage (strength affects melee damage as well if you have some you will deal massive melee damage).
Svartalfheim enchantments increase your stun damage based on your defence so you have more defence you deal more stun damage.
