Still working on my third guitar build, just a little slowly. Had issues with the finishing, but I mostly got that worked out and feel better about moving forward. I was pretty bummed out about it and have taken a short hiatus to take my mind off of it and to build a cigar box guitar, which is much less complicated, but lots of fun. This is after 1 coat of finish on guitar no. 3. Deepened the color of the mahogany neck and really brought out the color of the koa binding against the walnut which I really like. As of this posting, I‘m 17 coats in! 

Koa binding is installed, plus I tried a different method for the end graft. This is called a boxed inlay tailpiece, I suppose. I’ve seen others doing this, in particular Jeff Jewitt. So I gave it a shot.  Came out better than I thought it would! The first picture is during the scraping process and the second picture is after being wiped with mineral spirits. 

I got binding and purfling all installed in the body of guitar #3 yesterday! I forgot to take a picture of it installed, but here were some progress pics while cutting the channels.

Guitar number 3 is slowly coming along! 

I always forget about this community feature on YouTube. So, update: I’m pretty far in on the woodworking parts of guitar number 2. I spent what time I had today on shaping the neck. After I get it done and attached, it’s on to the bridge and then applying finish! And I’m already working on guitar 3 as well!
