LIVE _ Solving Urban Air Mobility problem through Simulation

Urban population in India has grown 3X in the last decade and expected to grow multifold further. This rapid growth has chocked the normal mobility system. Future urban air mobility is transformed itself to solve this problem. Whether its long and short distances, package delivery or a human passenger delivery. Urban air mobility is not only solving this problem but also green. 

Urban Air Mobility involves a completely new type of aircraft — Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) systems — with electric propulsion, integrated engine and flight controls, a new operational concept and less pilot involvement. To face these challenges, there is a strong need for efficient development processes and tools to meet safety and airworthiness objectives. 

Technology advancements in communications are increasing exponentially over the past few decades and now the world is currently moving from 4G to 5G technology, which has 10-100x improvements in various performance matrices, data speed, latency time, connectivity, etc. This has been achieved by a combination of both software and hardware advancements. In this presentation, Ansys will cover new breakthrough technologies in computational electromagnetics for solving different 5G RF modules such as a phased array, user equipment, filters, RF boards, etc. In order to meet the communication and regulations (FCC) different types of beamforming processes and near filed power density calculations are required. Ansys created a customized toolkit to do these post-processing steps before signoff the product. Later in the presentation covers the link budget analysis between the base station to the user equipment in a real-world scenario.

Nijas Kunju is a Application Engineering Manager at ANSYS Inc. He is specialized in domain of RF, Antennas, Radar, Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, and Multiphysics simulation. Nijas has been working with ANSYS from last 5 years. He is providing technical assistance for all RF, Antennas, Radar (especially in for Driverless Car) and 5G MIMO applications. He has been interacting with engineers from different industries which including Automotive, Defense, RF and Power electronics, etc.
