I am doing some more performance-per-watt testing. I hope to test another 3 phones/processors. First up is the Google Tensor G3, which could be relevant soon if Google announces the Pixel 8a with the G3. Here is a graph for the performance/watt. Full video next week.

Which is the best SoC for 2024? Is it the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3? Or maybe the Samsung Exynos 2400? What about the Apple A17 Pro, or the MediaTek Dimensity 9300? Is the Google Tensor G3 a contender?

RedHat has announced that it will no longer make RHEL source code available publicly 😱 According to RedHat/IBM, "CentOS Stream will now be the sole repository for public RHEL-related source code releases." For people who buy RHEL, "Red Hat customers and partners can access RHEL sources via the customer and partner portals, in accordance with their subscription agreement." The problem is that the subscription agreement forbids redistribution of that source code, meaning that while technically and legally the source can be shared, RedHat would then cancel your subscription.

ICYMI: My BASIC interpreter for the @Raspberry_Pi Pico is working! I posted a video about my BASIC interpreter a few days ago. Quite a few people suggested I port it to the Raspberry Pi Pico, so I did. Here is a demo of the LED flashing using PiccoloBASIC!

Apple had announced the M2 Ultra. It is built on a second-generation 5-nanometer process and uses Apple’s UltraFusion technology to connect the die of two M2 Max chips. Its unified memory architecture supports up to 192GB of RAM. The 24-core CPU of M2 Ultra consists of 16 high-performance cores and eight high-efficiency cores. The GPU can be configured with 60 or 76 next-generation cores.

I don't think I will make a video specifically about it as the technology is well known from previous Apple processors.

I just asked a popular AI system to "write a BASIC interpreter in C". The code it output looked interesting until it got to this! 😂🤪🤦‍♂️
