British Foreign Secretary David Cameron came to Ukraine’s capital to announce $3.74 billion of annual military aid for Ukraine for ‘as long as it takes’.

Mr. Cameron met President Volodymyr Zelensky and other senior Ukrainian officials to detail Britain’s support in the form of precision-guided bombs, and air defence missiles and equipment for 100 mobile air defence teams, his office said in a statement.

He also also that Ukraine had a right to use the weapons provided by London to strike targets inside Russia, and that it was up to Kyiv whether to do so.

'Ukraine has that right. Just as Russia is striking inside Ukraine, you can quite understand why Ukraine feels the need to make sure it’s defending itself,’ - said the British Foreign Secretary in an interview with Reuters in Kyiv, adding that the aid package was the largest from the UK so far. David Cameron also noted that some of the British equipment ‘is actually arriving in Ukraine today, while I’m here’.

Russians attacked the city of Odesa with ballistic missile resulting in the death of civilians.

At least 5 people were killed and 29 were injured in a Russian missile strike on Odesa that damaged civilian infrastructure, the State Emergency Service reported.

‘The Russians fired a ballistic missile with a cluster munition on one of the most popular locations among Odesa residents and visitors, where people were out walking with their children or dogs, playing sport… These munitions are used against infantry and pose a threat primarily to people, not equipment or buildings’, said Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Region Military Administration.

Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg came to Ukraine’s capital with an unannounced visit.

Stoltenberg held talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and was due to address Ukraine’s parliament. In his appeal he told Ukrainians that his alliance’s members had failed to live up to their promises of military aid in recent months, but said the flow of arms and ammunition would now increase.

‘It's not too late for Ukraine to prevail. But that’s why it's so urgent that NATO allies now actually do what we had promised and that we turn those commitments into real deliveries of weapons and ammunition and I’m now confident that will now happen’ said Jens Stoltenberg.

The 47th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Ukrainian army denies claims by The Associated Press that American Abrams tanks were withdrawn from the line of contact.

'The tanks are showing great [results] on the battlefield, and we're not going to hide from the enemy what makes it hide itself. And more importantly, [not going to] leave our infantry without such powerful fire support.' – one of the units reported.

Previously, the Associated Press reported the Ukrainian Army 'has sidelined U.S.-provided Abrams M1A1 battle tanks for now in its fight against Russia, in part because Russian drone warfare has made it too difficult for them to operate without detection or coming under attack'.

Ukraine has given the Cabinet of Qatar a list with 561 names of kids illegally kept in the federation. The russian side is already processing the list. The aggressor state has abducted more than 19,5 thousand Ukrainian children, the names of whom are known, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Kids of all statuses must be returned. 'Legally there is no difference between biological parents and official adoptive parents or guardians. Therefore, Russia is obliged to return the children, regardless of their status.' – writes Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, on his Facebook.

He added: 'The issue of returning home civilians unlawfully detained by the Russian Federation is constantly in the focus of our work with the international community.' The State of Qatar also agreed to participate in negotiations on such an issue.

History Repeats Itself: International Chornobyl Disaster Remembrance Day

Against the background of Russia's nuclear threats, Ukraine reminds the world of the consequences of such catastrophes. On April 26, 1986, two explosions occurred at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Radioactive substances were released into the atmosphere. The disaster took the lives of thousands of people, and besides that – caused irreparable damage to Europe's ecology.

The Soviet authorities tried to hide the fact of the catastrophe for a few days which led to diseases of masses. Most people from the area of the explosions are still fighting with consequences. Now the Chornobyl NPP is under a 'sarcophagus' which keeps it from spreading radiation.

On April 26, Ukraine honours the memory of the disaster itself, the people killed during and after it, and of heroism of station employees, liquidators, firefighters, medics and all people involved in the elimination of the consequences of the catastrophe.
