If you're thinking of wiring the house or small office, how about this strategy?
You don't need to know how to terminate cables, as you can buy faceplates and use couplers
This allows you to use pre-built cables
Yes, it needs quite a bit of depth, but I used this strategy to run Cat 8 and Fibre cables 

Colour cabling by number
No relevance, other than it looks different and matches end to end
If only I'd realised you could get coloured DAC cables
