Quick reminder for those who can find it useful:
You can get the plugin Sub Ninja for free until the 15th March if you use the code WOOCHIA
Here's the link: https://dsp.thehim.com/

Sub Ninja is a visualiser that can show the waveform of your track below a certain frequency. It can also detect frequencies below a certain threshold. Handy to check the kick/bass relationship, especially if you're mixing on a system where the subs are hard to hear.
There's a video on the website showing it in action, and I've also used it in my last video about mixing.

Take care!

I'm pretty hyped about this:
- I've tested almost all the LIVEN synths/grooveboxes from Sonicware, and the lofi-12 was probably my favourite for fast beatmaking.
- This Lofi-12XT is basically an extended version of the Lofi-12, but on the hardware of the SmplTrek (which, to me, is their best product to date).

Sonicware has just launched a kickstarter campaign for the Lofi-12XT, which is already founded, and it is still early enough to get the early bird price.
So if you want to check it out, here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sonicware-inc/lofi-12xt

The next video is done (~45 min), and I will upload it tomorrow!

I'm very excited and I want to give you some clues to see if you can guess what it will be about:
- This is more or less a documentary about a concept album released in 2007.
- The album was "the OST to a film that never existed".
- It was released along with content that is now slowly disappearing from the internet (and I'm f*cking baffled nobody made a video to tell this story in 16 years).
- The band has been active for about 35 years and was originally made of one man (now two).

Can you guess the topic of the video?

The video I was working on these last two months is almost done and I hope to share it next week!

Here's the weird thing:
I wanted to do this video for YEARS.
The subject includes a totalitarian government and a resistance taking form against it, and I hadn't imagined that I would edit it while riots and burning cars appeared around where I live.

It feels like I opened a Pandora's box and part of the (fictional) universe I was working on overflowed in the real world - or maybe it was there all along. This is a really weird feeling.

Though, I will NOT make it political. This is neither my intent or the purpose of my channel. This will be about ART.

This is the first time I work on something of this type - and this size - and I can't wait to share it with you.

Take care of you, take care of others.
Seen you soon.

Can madness a form of salvation?

First, I've changed the name of the Channel. Woochia's Beats & Bobs becomes Woochia - Charly Sauret. It seems simpler, but that's not what I wanted to talk about.

I've spent the last few weeks researching and writing my next video.
This is where I think I went a bit mad as the text grew longer and longer... Like a lot longer than what I anticipated.
I ended up with 41 chapters. The video would have been 3h10min long. So I spent the last days rewriting to get it under 2h. This will be a long documentary, it's been a challenge, and I'm f*cking stoked about it.

In the meantime, my computer decided to stop working. A problem with the battery. It's been almost three weeks now and I hope to receive the replacement parts before I need it to edit my next video... Which will be very soon, as I will start to record today. I really can't wait to have this solved.

I'll be back as soon as possible. In the meantime I wish you all a great day. Take care.

3 news downloads are available on my Patreon!

- I finally finished the PDF version of my music theory course. It is the transcript of the videos, with screenshots, just as you can find them on my website... but in PDF format.

- I share a sample pack with the samples I recorded during my DAWless sound design video. There are 45 samples + 27 custom Ableton instrument racks with macros. Every tonal samples are pitch-corrected to be a C note, and every loops are tempo corrected to be at 100 bpm.

- I added an updated version of the Ableton Live project I used to make my Psychedelic Breakfast music. If you want to see how I processed each sound, now you can. Every track using plugins are freezed so you should be able to hear them even if you don't own the plugins.

Here is the link the Patreon if you want to check it: https://www.patreon.com/woochia

Cheers!

Hello there !
Here's a quick update. There are 3 things I'd like to share:

1 - After receiving several requests for it, a PDF version of my sound design course is finally available.
You can get it from my Patreon here, where everything is at "name your own price": https://www.patreon.com/posts/sound-design-pdf-81987577
For those who want a free version, the full course is still available in video, here on youtube: https://youtu.be/jWorjBDcty4
Or in writing on my website: https://www.woochia.com/sound-design-theory

2 - Talking about my website, I've noticed the form to download my music theory cheat sheet is broken (and for all my free downloads as well, in fact).
I am working to get that up and running again as soon as possible. In the meantime, I will send manually the cheat sheet to the people who has emailed me about that. So if you didn't receive your download link, don't hesitate to sned me an email (you can find it in the "about" section of my channel)

3 - The Ableton project I used to make my last music "Woochia's psychedelic breakfast" is also available on my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/woochias-ableton-81633675
I will export each sample I used as well, to share a sample pack there, so you can start using the same sounds in your own music (that should be ~50 samples maybe?)

I hope you're all doing great. I'll see you soon with the next video which will be probably next week.
Take care!

Website has been fixed!

I received several feedbacks saying that the written versions of my Music Theory and Sound Design tutorials on my website were not being displayed correctly on Mac.
This issue is now fixed and all the courses should be available without any problem.

If you'd like to see those courses, head over at woochia.com
It's completely free and doesn't require any registration.

Have a great day!

Do you know any small youtube channel about music production that deserves more attention?

I NEED YOUR HELP (to help me help you or help your friends)!

Ok that was confusing... Let me re-phrase:
I'm about to reach 30 000 subs, probably tomorrow. That is kind of crazy considering I really started this Youtube channel 6 years ago, and I reached the 20k subs only 4 months ago.

This feels like something lucky happened in the few last months, and for the occasion I'd like to share this luck with smaller channels. There are people doing an amazing job with their channels and they stay unknown to the vast majority of people who would really enjoy their content.

So if you know a "small" channel like this (<10-15k subs) that talks about music production in any way, please share it in the comment!

I'll select ~5 channels and make a video to introduce them!
