I've never seen the totality before so we drove 4 hours and wildly overpaid for a room... And it was worth it!! It really is an amazing experience. Totality from Burlington Vermont with my a1 and 200-600 (processed quickly on my iphone). We had some thin clouds.

Here's a simple idea for reducing camera theft: Present an ownership message each time the camera starts. It would disappear after the normal startup delay. Require a password to remove or change the message. Used camera stores, pawn shops, and most eBay/Facebook Marketplace buyers would reject a camera with the message, making it less profitable and more time-consuming for criminals to resell stolen cameras. No inconvenience to owners, and could be implemented with free firmware updates. Thoughts?
