*HRE Update #5*

It's been a while since the last update, but a lot of progress has been made! Northern Germany has seen the most, which is now complete. I've made progress in other areas too, and it's now really just the Low Countries, Bavaria, certain areas around the Rhine, and northern Italy to go.

I'm now working on a preview video that will cover the first centuries of the video (800 - 1056). Below is a slide from that preview video, showing the year 863. The other images show the completed areas in northern Germany, and the overall research progress. 

*HRE Update #4*

I've now finished researching the regions of Thuringia and Saxony, and have also done some of Eastern Franconia (this is about 5-6 weeks of progress). Next I'll probably be moving onto Bavaria.

As the HRE project is taking a long time, I have paused it to upload a smaller video: 'The Largest Cities in Europe Throughout History: Every Year'. Progress has been quick so far, and I'm expecting to finish it in February, so a new video isn't so far away! 

*HRE Update #3*

With about 2500 events recorded, I may be approaching 50% completion for the research (which is expected to be around 5000 - 7000 events by the end). Recently I've made progress with Northern Germany, Pomerania, Silesia, Alsace-Lorraine, Tyrol, Corsica, and Baden-Württemberg. Here is a map of the areas where research has been completed, along with a more detailed view of a couple of those areas, and some concept art.

Due to the amount of time this is taking, I'm going to release another smaller video before the HRE video is complete.

*HRE Update #2*

I've been focusing on Switzerland for the past few weeks, and I've now finished researching and mapping it. I'm going to make a smaller video about Switzerland soon to keep the channel going - thanks for your patience! 

Thank you for 300,000 subscribers! The channel's been doing pretty well recently - I appreciate all the support you all continue to give. My next video is a pretty big one, but long-overdue: 'The Holy Roman Empire: Every Year'. So far I've mostly been focusing on the south, especially Swabia, Burgundy, and Austria. It's going to take a long time to finish, so I'll post more updates progressively. Additional info:

• The colour scheme will be based on noble houses, not individual polities (so you'll have a clearer view of where power is concentrated)
• It will cover the period 800 CE - 1871, to give the full context and legacy of the H.R.E.
• I'm researching basically every municipality and compiling that research into a master spreadsheet, which will be made publicly available along with the SVG and PNG maps when the project is finished
• I'm receiving help from others, including some other mapping channels, who are experts in particular regions 

I finished this collaboration with Vologda Mapping recently - take a look if you're interested in Middle-earth (where the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, etc. take place).
Just be warned it covers the entire history of that that world, so it's very long and the earlier parts may be unfamiliar to some.
