#BREAKING : Rescuers have reached the site where a helicopter carrying Iran President Ebrahim Raisi crashed, but state TV reports there are "no signs of life" among the wreckage.



The helicopter carrying Raisi, along with Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahain went down in heavy fog while travelling through a mountainous region of the country, near the Azerbaijani border.



Iranian officials told Reuters that the wreckage was "completely burned in the crash," and that "unfortunately all passengers are feared dead."

Police are investigating after the bodies of a man and his two-year-old son were found in a New South Wales unit.

Officers were called to the College Street property in East Lismore around 9.45pm last night for a welfare check on the 38-year-old and his son.

NSW Police have staged a four-day crackdown on domestic violence, arresting a total of 554 offenders.

More than 1,000 charges were issued in the blitz, with 226 of the offenders arrested by police facing serious domestic violence offences.

A major search is underway in Iran following the crash of a helicopter reportedly carrying President Ebrahim Raisi. 

Rescue crews have worked late into the night, but are battling heavy fog.

Local state media reported that the helicopter, which was also carrying the country’s foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, made a “rough landing” on the way back from a visit at the Azerbaijan border.

#BREAKING : Three A-League Men players have been arrested by NSW Police over alleged betting corruption.

Investigations have revealed that players were receiving instructions from a man, believed to be in South America, to organise for yellow cards to occur in return for profit.

The yellow cards were allegedly manipulated during matches on Friday, November 24 and Saturday, December 9, with failed attempts also believed to have taken place on Saturday, April 20 and Saturday, May 4.

Police this morning arrested a 33-year-old South Coogee man, a 27-year-old Paramatta man and 32-year-old West Hoxton man.

They were charged with a multitude of betting corruption offences.

Football Australia has released a statement acknowledging the matter.

Football Australia issued a statement a short time ago, noting that they had been "made aware" of the arrests, and that they pertained to "players associated with a south-western Sydney football club."

Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico has undergone surgery after he was shot in an assassination attempt.

Fico was greeting people in the small town of Handlova at around 2.30pm local time, when he was shot five times, leaving him fighting for life.

The alleged shooter was detained at the scene, while the Prime Minister was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Politicians and Slovakia’s President have labelled this a politically motivated attack on democracy.

CCTV has revealed the moment a French prisoner known as “The Fly” escaped after armed gunmen intercepted the prison van that he was being transported in.

The United States is set to send a new package of arms and ammunition to Israel, worth over $1 billion, according to the Associated Press.

Per the report, the Biden administration has informed "key lawmakers" that the shipment will go ahead, which would make it the first since the White House briefly paused the transfer of 3,500 bombs to Israel.

The first official portrait of King Charles III has been unveiled at Buckingham Palace, and it's... red.


The vivid oil painting by artist Jonathan Yeo depicts the King in his Welsh Guards military uniform, with a butterfly hovering over his shoulder.


According to a statement from the palace, the butterfly symbolises the evolution of the King's role in public life.


Jonathan Yeo has previously painted well-known figures such as David Attenborough, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and the late Prince Philip.

The aurora australis has lit up southern skies in pink, green and blue over the weekend.

The geomagnetic storm which caused the bright colours reached an extreme level, the last of which was seen in 2003.
