The U.S. Supreme Court just made a historic ruling that race-based affirmative action programs violate the Constitution's guarantee of equal protection. Leaders of public and private universities around the country say they fear the ruling will result in a "dramatic drop in Black and Hispanic students" if they only consider students' grades and test scores, and ignore systemic barriers or inequalities that may impact many of these students. We did an episode a couple of years ago about the Harvard case -- and broke down both sides of this ongoing debate. Check out the video HERE >> https://youtu.be/ZhUOw0KidZg . After watching, let us know what you think about the SCOTUS decision:

Worried. This creates more inequity.

Pleased. This makes things fairer.

Uncertain. Let's see what happens.

We featured one of these companies -- Good Meat -- in our recent episode on lab-grown meat. WATCH VIDEO >> https://youtu.be/mSkbz4HL6m8

Is it a violation of students’ civil rights when a school district bans books about Black and LGBTQ characters? Watch our Emmy-award-nominated episode on the ethics of banning books and weigh in! >> https://youtu.be/FFJMpihW1y4

Also, the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights just investigated a Georgia school district that pulled a dozen books from school library shelves after parents complained of their sexual and LGBTQ content after students said the book removals made them feel “fearful and unsafe at school.” The Dept of Ed found that the district encouraged a “hostile environment based on race, color and national origin” and provided students with information about how to file discrimination and harassment complaints under federal law."
