(Uploads in April 2024) Below picture shows all of the consoles that we've archived atleast three titles for. Other consoles we focused on this month are: Xbox (+1), Xbox 360 (+1), PlayStation 2 (+2), PlayStation 3 (+1), PlayStation Portable (+1), Game Gear (+2), Game Boy Color (+1), Saturn (+2), Wii (+1)

This April might be a record for lengthy uploads! We kicked the month off with PowerWash Simulator as an April Fool's joke posted by SpectreBull, but we also featured three lengthy RPG's by nikodem123asdf. It's been great to see the LPA team spending so much time and effort recording some of these longplays knowing that they aren't always the most popular videos, but require good coverage nonetheless. This month we'll wrap up the rest of PowerWash Simulator by posting the remaining DLC and we also have one super lengthy wrestling upload planned.. can you guess which?

We've also been posting more Nintendo DS titles in April as our newest member, Alrovid, has been focusing on that library. We hope to see more DS content by him as the library is huge and requires some more attention! Fortunately these videos have also been very well received by the community which is motivating.

Speaking of handhelds, the Game Boy console was picked for the month of April so we got to record and upload 30 titles for that console! I honestly didn't expect the titles to be so enjoyable, but they were. For the next month we're marathonning Atari 2600, which Retro Game Spacko has already recorded backlog for 4 years ago! We've been throwing the Atari 2600 console in the poll for months now hoping it would get picked, because these videos have been in the backlog for so long and I promised Spacko I would upload them when the time is right. We won't be touching the console for a long long time after this, but it's nice to expand our catalogue a little more and help people see what the console was about.

Lastly! We've uploaded a bunch of lengthier Atari Lynx titles in April. There's a chance we'll post the remaining lengthy Lynx titles this month and then leave the last 30 titles up for grabs during a marathon month, but we're gonna need you guys to vote Lynx in that poll if you want to see that library completed. The only hurdle left right now is Super Skweek, but one of our members is possibly working on it as we speak.

I hope you're all doing well and thanks for reading. If you want to stay closer up to date with our progress, you can check out our live spreadsheets at sheets.longplayarchive.com

Last poll you guys voted for Breath of Fire III (PSX) which has now been uploaded as a 3-parter to our channel (and unfortunately fully copyrighted, so no revenue!). This poll you can vote for another lengthy RPG to be posted to the channel by Nikodem. They're all rather unpopular PSP RPG's so it can be any winner!

Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner

Yggdra Union

Hexyz Force

Brave Story: New Traveler

(Uploads in March 2024) Below picture shows all of the consoles that we've archived atleast three titles for. Other consoles we focused on this month are: Game Boy (+1), NES (+1), Nintendo DS (+2), Nintendo 3DS (+2), Wii (+2), Switch (+1), PlayStation 2 (+1), PlayStation 4 (+1), PlayStation 5 (+1), Xbox 360 (+1), Saturn (+2), Jaguar (+1)

It's April Fools! We've got a longplay scheduled later today as our April Fools special that I'm excited to share.

Last month we put our marathon focus on the Atari Lynx, which was pretty much an untouched system for our archive. A lot of the uploads weren't so popular, but we still got to post a few gems and I'm happy to announce we managed to finish almost half the entire library in just a month. We'll take out some of the longer Lynx titles over the upcoming months and then poll all of the remaining short stuff for a marathon down the line. As for this months marathon, we'll be focusing on Game Boy titles!

Besides breaking into the Atari Lynx library, we also did our first Atari Jaguar title! It was Rayman (which I've ALWAYS wanted to play for the channel). I looked into the possibilities of archiving the entire Jaguar library, but there doesn't seem to be any fully accurate emulation available and a lot of the existing emulation runs the games far too fast. Since we care about accuracy here, it'll have to be held off for a while. The Rayman upload is fine, though!

Finally, the shorter news is that we passed 250 Nintendo 64 uploads (1/4th of a thousand!) and have onboarded a new member, Alrovid, who seems to be mostly interested in Nintendo DS games at the moment, so expect more of those! We're still open to accept new members, so if you're interested and have some experience with recording video game footage (or preferably a channel for me to look at), do shoot a msg!

Hope you all had a great Easter and thanks for reading. If you want to stay closer up to date with our progress, you can check out our live spreadsheets at sheets.longplayarchive.com

(Uploads in February 2024) Below picture shows all of the consoles that we've archived atleast three titles for. Other consoles we focused on this month are: Nintendo DS (+2), PlayStation 4 (+1), Saturn (+1), Atari Lynx (+1), Game Gear (+1), Xbox (+1), Xbox 360 (+1), SNES (+2)

First and foremost, some of these number totals might be a little off as it seems that our spreadsheets are no longer updating properly.. we'll try to have it fixed next month. Nintendo 64 should actually be at 240/396! Don't forget you can check out our numbers live through sheets.longplayarchive.com

In February you guys voted to do a marathon on Game Boy Color games. The system turned out to be more of a nuisance than I anticipated as a lot of the games had to be skipped over due to being Japanese-exclusives. Literally half of the entire library is in Japanese and most often not understandable! We've been diligent in our selection and didn't skip over any bad stuff and I'm proud to say that LPA now hosts the largest GBC library on YouTube with our current total in mind (or at least I don't know of any channels with more uploads).

The Nintendo 64 library has also continued to grow at a fast pace. I've been trying to work a little bit more alphabetical since I finally upgraded my computer and can now tackle all games at full speed (my previous hardware ran most titles at only 30% fps which resulted in me skipping over 10h+ games that'd result in very little audience interest anyway). There's not a whole lot of interesting games left to play, but I made sure to save some for the upcoming months.

We've also touched on our first Atari Lynx upload this February! We actually got an entire marathon month of them planned in March, so expect daily Lynx posts.

Lastly, we unfortunately had to bid farewell to two members over the last two months. If you're a smaller channel that's already active in the longplay scene but struggles to get videos to an audience despite providing good gameplay and quality, you make a perfect candidate for LPA! We've got strict quality control and rules to abide by, but there's a generous revenue incentive for those ambitious enough to collaborate. If you run such channel or you have good experience with gaming, videomaking and utilizing TAS, feel free to shoot me an e-mail or drop in our Discord!

LongplayArchive marks it's 10th aniversary!

Time has really flown by and I remember starting this project after retiring from an MMO which led me to having way too much free time on my hands. I had a huge GameCube collection and originally wanted to have a memory card with all games completed, but the memory cards kept corrupting as they were cheap third party models. After putting some money together l decided to purchase recording equipment and set out the goal to record all GameCube games ever released.

There was never much of a revenue incentive when starting this project. I had over a hundred games ready to record and had plans to go to college, so this was more of a hobby project than anything else. The ultimate dream at that time was to perhaps earn just enough to be able to continue purchasing games without using my own money for it. What ended up happening was much greater and I completely owe it to the awesome people I’ve met along the way that helped elevate the channel to what it is today.

At one point my hardware recorder even gave out and I didn’t have the money to afford a new one, but a guy by the name of Storm Falcon decided to PayPal me enough money to purchase something new and better. The original Twilight Princess longplay is dedicated to him as it was one of his suggestions which I promised I’d get to once I had the money to buy the game. There were plans to meet up during 2020 as he was suffering from a heart condition but due to the travel restrictions at the time this unfortunately never got to happen and it hurts to know I haven’t heard of him since.

I sometimes question how all of these things just came about because it feels so surreal. I could write paragraphs on how the team came about too, but this message is already getting too lengthy. One person led to another, to another… and just like that, my ugly widescreen recordings were no more with the help of the tremendous team that just so happened to know all of what I would’ve never figured out on my own. That same team helped move this channel away from just GameCube videos and allowed more libraries to be played which expanded the horizon of this channel immensely. This channel was no longer about documenting just one console, but all consoles.

I consider myself exceptionally lucky for being able to turn this hobby into a full time job and I couldn’t be more grateful for it. There’s been many bumps in the road, hardships that had to be overcome and even sacrifices that had to be made and whilst it’s not something I’d be quick to suggest anybody else to do, I personally don’t regret a single thing.

To my amazing team, our subscribers and even the random viewers that choose our videos whenever they’re looking for certain gameplay… thank you! This channel will continue to exist and expand into what I want to be the largest videogame library to ever exist. As long as your support is with us, we will never give up.
