Did you know that the first ever commercial airlines incident that surpassed 100 deaths happened in 1956 over the Grand Canyon? 🛩 As the pilots were manoeuvring near the canyon, it is believed the planes passed the same cloud from opposite sides. At the time, it was up to the pilots alone to make sure they remained a safe distance away from each other using visual cues. The events of this accidents was one of the driving factors for bettering air traffic control in the 60s.
