Weโ€™ve had a bit of a slow down in last 2 weeks, but we still managed to release the next 2 chapters of the DevSecOps Bootcamp ๐Ÿ™Œ ๐Ÿ‘‡

- Chapter 15 - Bootstrap clusters with EKS Blueprints
- Chapter 16 - Application Release Pipeline with ArgoCD

Super happy about the quality, the amount of information packed in these new chapters ๐Ÿ’Ž

This part is about building a secure CI/CD pipeline for micro services app using ArgoCD & GitOps best practices. Making the application deployment
โœ… secure
โœ… efficient &
โœ… completely automated

This chapter builds on previous ones:
1. So we are extending a #terraform project to install #argocd in #k8s cluster on #aws & connect it with the GitOps repo, all via automated IaC pipeline.
2. But we arenโ€™t just showing the setup, we are configuring an actual pipeline of dynamically updating & building a new application version using GitLab downstream pipeline feature, which then triggers ArgoCD to automatically pull the K8s manifest changes made by GitLab CI pipeline.

Happy to share the chapter overview video of ArgoCD, so you get a better idea of the workflow ๐Ÿ˜Š: https://youtu.be/-nkOP0rcMFM

This highlights 1 important thing that many courses and programs lack, which is Iโ€™m building out the project chapter by chapter, instead of teaching tools in isolation. This is super important for me, because thatโ€™s where the actual advanced skills lie ๐Ÿ’ช

This means the project gets more and more complex with many components, but it also becomes more real-life & reflects exactly how itโ€™s gonna be in real world, so you literally learn how you can implement these things in actual projects and organisation with production grade best practices ๐Ÿš€

And this is just 1 chapter in this huge program: https://www.techworld-with-nana.com/devsecops-bootcamp
In this chapter alone, you learn a ton of valuable skills for Cloud & DevOps engineer or even software engineers ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿ’ป

As you may know, Nicole creates these amazing handouts for each chapter in the program, to provide a summary of the entire chapter that you can review to zoom out and get big picture summary of things for even better retainment of knowledge. Many students also print them out and use while working through the projects for progress check.
Those extra details make the learning experience even better! ๐Ÿคฉ

Since this is such an interesting topic, we decided to make this handout available for free ๐ŸŒŸ, for those who want to see the GitOps workflow for IaC and application release automation. Handout alone is a great resource to get a good visualisation & overview of these concepts. Just write us email at support@techworld-with-nana.com and weโ€™ll send you the access to you! ๐Ÿ“ง ๐Ÿ˜Š

But donโ€™t forget existing DevOps knowledge is pre-requisite, cuz youโ€™re learning advanced use cases that build on DevOps skills. If you donโ€™t have those, you should start with DevOps bootcamp: https://www.techworld-with-nana.com/devops-bootcamp

We offer a bundle discount if you wanna enrol in both right away. Again just email to our Support team and youโ€™ll get all the details ๐Ÿ˜Š

Ran out of characters again, being passionate about our DevSecOps bootcamp ๐Ÿ˜€ promise to give you more diverse update in the next post! ๐Ÿ˜€

And as always, wish you guys an amazing and productive week ahead ๐Ÿ’™

This week has been absolutely packed ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘‡

 #DevSecOps ย Bootcamp
๐Ÿ’ช Next 2 chapters are almost done and will be released end of next week
๐Ÿ’ช 3 more chapters in post production
๐Ÿ’ช And I need to record the last chapter with project demo - Compliance as Code

Reminder that the early bird price for the program ends on 31 May. Once we release everything, we will increase to full price, which still is a steal for the amount information and projects, and concepts in this program โœ…

If you wanna be some of the few engineers with such valuable skills globally, you should definitely invest in your knowledge ๐Ÿš€

As you see below from a student's feedback ๐Ÿ’™, our bootcamps ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€, as they should, because you should be rewarded for investing time and money into acquiring new valuable skills ๐Ÿ˜

So make yourself that gift ๐ŸŽ and see you soon in the DevSecOps bootcamp ๐Ÿ‘‹ย  https://techworld-with-nana.com/devsecops-bootcamp

Another huge update ๐Ÿ‘‡
For the first time since release, we will be ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—น๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ž๐Ÿด๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ฒ in 3 days, so we can update everything properly.

So in case you need to prepare for CKA exam or learn K8s administration, you still have 3 days to enrol, because the course wonโ€™t be available for some time after that! ๐Ÿ‘‰ย  https://www.techworld-with-nana.com/kubernetes-administrator-cka

And of course, all existing students will get the updates automatically โœ…

Weโ€™ll re-launch again with fresh new K8s version and updates, to make sure we can keep amazing reviews from our students ๐Ÿ˜€

 #youtube ย โค๏ธ
We also completed a YouTube video which will be released soon.Another YouTube video recorded and in post-production. And 1 more almost prepared for recording ๐Ÿ‘

 #photoshoot ย ๐Ÿ“ธ
Plus we had a fun, long overdue, photoshoot for TWN! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Iโ€™ll be sharing some cool content from the shooting soon too ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

Overall amazing productive week. I bet the next one will be even better ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿš€

3 weeks ago โ€ข TechWorld with Nana

I have to share these amazing reviews we have been getting from students. This is the ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ ๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐˜„๐—ฒ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ that literally helps engineers get a raise or get a new job, change their careers and their whole lives ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿš€

I really believe, I have one of the most rewarding jobs there is ๐Ÿ˜€ Sometimes when the work gets too intense and stressful, like the last 2 months, which have been absolutely crazy & busy ๐Ÿ˜€ I may forget to appreciate it, but then see such feedback that reminds me that what I do every day, what we do at TWN is actually changing peopleโ€™s lives and careers ๐Ÿ’™

This makes every minute of hard work worth it ๐Ÿ’ช

Anyways, this week was Definitely not my most favorite task, but really important for quality checks, considering Iโ€™m almost a perfectionist! ๐Ÿ˜€

So Iโ€™m reviewing ๐Ÿ‘€ a bunch of stuff:
โœ… EKS Blueprints and GitOps ArgoCD chapters of DevSecOps bootcamp part 2
โœ… CKA course updates first 2 chapters
โœ… DevOps bootcamp updates Ansible module โ†’ we are almost done with DevOps bootcamp updates ๐ŸŽ‰
Just 1 last chapter and we would have re-recorded the entire DevOps bootcamp and updated everything with new versions in last 10 months! ๐Ÿคฏ

And since I got this question a lot, yes, all enrolled students will automatically get the updates to all lectures ๐Ÿ™‚

1 month ago (edited) โ€ข TechWorld with Nana

As always, lots going on at TechWorld with Nana ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘‡

1๏ธโƒฃ #DevSecOps
DevSecOps bootcamp is still our #1 priority. We released the next few chapters already, related to Kubernetes security with secure access management using K8s RBAC and AWS IAM, plus fully automated IaC release pipeline ๐Ÿ‘‡

Essentially creating ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ, where no human user has write permissions to the cluster by default, and any ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ๐˜€ have to go through the CI/CD pipeline built for IaC repository ๐Ÿš€

Few next chapters already recorded ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ about:
โœ… Policy as Code for enforcing secure configuration policies in K8s
โœ… Secrets management in K8s using AWS Secrets Manager using external-secrets service in K8s
โœ… Weโ€™ll also cover Vault and comparison between these 2 tools

This lets you securely create and manage secrets in K8s avoiding having to spread secrets everywhere from local computer to CI/CD pipeline variables.

Instead store everything in central storage like Vault or AWS secrets manager and securely fetch them into Kubernetes as K8s secrets.

In the 2nd part we have another fully automated ๐—–๐—œ/๐—–๐—— ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต ๐—š๐—ถ๐˜๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ ๐—–๐—œ & ๐—”๐—ฟ๐—ด๐—ผ๐—–๐—— that deploys a micro services application into K8s cluster with security and production best practices.

So as you see, lots of production-grade advanced projects.

I honestly donโ€™t believe, you learn how to do these in any other course or bootcamp ๐Ÿค

You usually only learn these things with And we teach that in this bootcamp ๐Ÿ’ช

Which also means you can apply what you learn in our DevSecOps bootcamp directly at work ๐Ÿ’ผ I literally teach exactly what I would configure in real production grade projects ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

But instead of just scraping code together from internet resources, you'll actually understand every part of what you are configuring from start to finish.

Iโ€™m super proud of this program, that we are creating ๐Ÿคฉ

2๏ธโƒฃ #YouTube videos

We of course keep creating free resources in parallel. Already recorded a new YouTube video and next 2 in pipeline โœ…
Will share more on these in the next post ๐Ÿ™‚

3๏ธโƒฃ #Updates in progress
This is our second largest priority, to completely re-record and update our Kubernetes Administrator course with new K8s version, new CNI plugin tool and other relevant updates.

We are working on this very intensively, so students get the updated version of the course as soon as possible. And of course, all existing students will get the updated versions automatically when we release the updates โœ…

We are also almost done with DevOps Bootcamp updates.

In the last 10 months, we have re-recorded almost the entire DevOps bootcamp and updated everything with new versions. Ansible module updates are almost done and soon will be released too ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

As you see, ton of things are happening, lots of work to do ๐Ÿค“

So with fresh energy ๐Ÿ”‹ for next week, letโ€™s start another productive week ๐Ÿ˜Š

Cheers,
Nana

An exciting update ๐ŸŽ‰
Few days ago, we released the

Super interesting & highly relevant topic of security in #kubernetes :
๐Ÿš€ K8s cluster security best practices
๐Ÿš€ Access management with K8s RBAC & AWS IAM
๐Ÿš€ IaC pipeline for EKS provisioning with short-lived tokens for secure deployment

Basically really cool, real-life use cases which you can use directly in real projects ๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™m sure students will enjoy learning those topics as much as we enjoyed creating them ๐Ÿ˜Š

Also check out these snippets from the awesome handouts that Nicole has been creating for each chapter of the bootcamp ๐Ÿ‘€

But the work continues..

We still have a few more chapters to release with more awesome topics, like
โžก๏ธ GitOps deployment with ArgoCD
โžก๏ธ K8s Secrets Management
โžก๏ธ Policy as Code
โžก๏ธ Compliance as Code etc

All in the context of Kubernetes and general #cloud security ๐Ÿ”’

All of those are in progress and intensively worked on โœ๏ธ, so hope to release everything within the next 2 months. Super excited about this part! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

That means, you can still enroll with the ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐Ÿฆ, until we complete and release rest of the chapters, in just a couple of weeks. So make sure to take advantage of that โœ…

By the way, if you have any questions about the DevSecOps bootcamp, you can ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฎ ๐˜€๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ธ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ธ ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ ๐—ฎ ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ผ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น with an engineer on our team, directly on our DevSecOps bootcamp page here: https://techworld-with-nana.com/devsecops-bootcamp

I have a bunch of stuff to share with you guys. Ever experienced the thrill of a tech rollercoaster? ๐ŸŽข Let me share mine ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘‡

 #DevSecOps Bootcamp Part 2
First two chapters are almost ready to be released. And guess what happened: Terraform just deprecated an important attribute we are using in the EKS configuration for securing access management for the whole K8s cluster ๐Ÿ˜ซ

Which means, we need to update the demo, before we even release ๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Welcome to the dynamic and exciting Cloud and DevOps world, where things change daily ๐Ÿ˜€

TWN #itcareer Quiz
We also released a career quiz! ๐ŸŽ‰ If you want to get your individualized learning path for what engineering goal you have based on your current background, take the quiz ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.techworld-with-nana.com/it-career-quiz

We worked on these for weeks analyzing each engineering background and how you can get to your target engineering role and level, like Senior Cloud engineer or getting started in DevOps as fast as possible etc and mapped out 10s of different learning paths for each scenario. ๐Ÿคฏ

Feel free to share your results here and make a commitment to start following your individual learning path ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ’ช

 #githubcopilot
Also recorded next YouTube video about GitHub copilot AI assistant for IaC.

Have you guys been using it? What is your experience? ๐Ÿค”

I donโ€™t think GitHub copilot creators will be super happy about my video ๐Ÿ˜€ but I tried to show my actual experience of using Copilot for IaC specifically and how valuable it is or not. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ So stay tuned for that!

Already started working on the next YouTube video, which Iโ€™m actually not allowed to say anything before release ๐Ÿ™ˆ But this is gonna be a super exciting one ๐Ÿ‘€

 #TWN Swag ๐Ÿ“ฆ
The first package of giveaway has arrived and so cool to see the photos from our giveaway winner with TWN swag ๐Ÿ˜Š Thanks for sharing Ilia! We are making sure all others make it to the destinations ๐ŸŒŽ ๐Ÿ˜€

With that, have a great week ahead! ๐Ÿ’™

#DevSecOps bootcamp part 2 - delay in the release, because we are redoing the whole thing. Discarded some of the project workflows that didnโ€™t fit the best practices. But we do have a really good solution now and are working to finalize the projects โœŠ Will keep up updated!

#CKA course update - a popular CNI plugin that Iโ€™m using in the course will be discontinued, and of course when this happens and affects our courses, we prioritize this and re-record the updates. ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

So we are replacing the CNI plugin in our CKA course and will release this update within the next 2 weeks to make sure our students are learning only the most up-to-date tools โœ… and keep getting the most value from our courses ๐Ÿ˜

Have a great start of the week guys! ๐Ÿฉต

1 million subscribers on YouTube! We did it! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿคฉ

This was a completely unimaginable number when Nicole and I started the TechWorld with Nana channel. Fast forward 4 years and 115 videos, this unbelievable milestone is a reality ๐Ÿ’™

I can't believe 1 million people actively decided: "know what, I'm gonna explicitly, consciously follow Nana's content and stay up-to-date with her videos" ๐Ÿ™€ That is insane. And I'm just extremely grateful for this journey๐Ÿ™

It was definitely not an easy one, I went through all the phases of hating the creation process of some of our early videos, stress, self-doubt, imposter syndrome to eventually learning to enjoy the process, becoming very confident and finding all the positive sides of content creation & sharing my engineering knowledge โœ…

It has become part of my identity and there is nothing I would rather be doing at this stage of my life ๐Ÿš€

Seeing our community grow, and millions of engineers worldwide supporting and appreciating TechWorld with Nana brand, was obviously the most fulfilling part of the journey ๐Ÿ’™

And here is the official 1 million subscribers video on our channel ๐Ÿค—
