We’ve had a bit of a slow down in last 2 weeks, but we still managed to release the next 2 chapters of the DevSecOps Bootcamp 🙌 👇

This part is about building a secure CI/CD pipeline for micro services app using ArgoCD & GitOps best practices. Making the application deployment

This chapter builds on previous ones:
1. So we are extending a  #terraform  project to install  #argocd  in  #k8s  cluster on  #aws  & connect it with the GitOps repo, all via automated IaC pipeline.
2. But we aren’t just showing the setup, we are configuring an actual pipeline of dynamically updating & building a new application version using GitLab downstream pipeline feature, which then triggers ArgoCD to automatically pull the K8s manifest changes made by GitLab CI pipeline.

I really believe, I have one of the most rewarding jobs there is 😀 Sometimes when the work gets too intense and stressful, like the last 2 months, which have been absolutely crazy & busy 😀 I may forget to appreciate it, but then see such feedback that reminds me that what I do every day, what we do at TWN is actually changing people’s lives and careers 💙

This makes every minute of hard work worth it 💪

Anyways, this week was 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀. Definitely not my most favorite task, but really important for quality checks, considering I’m almost a perfectionist! 😀

So I’m reviewing 👀 a bunch of stuff:
✅ EKS Blueprints and GitOps ArgoCD chapters of DevSecOps bootcamp part 2
✅ CKA course updates first 2 chapters
✅ DevOps bootcamp updates Ansible module → we are almost done with DevOps bootcamp updates 🎉
Just 1 last chapter and we would have re-recorded the entire DevOps bootcamp and updated everything with new versions in last 10 months! 🤯

And since I got this question a lot, yes, all enrolled students will automatically get the updates to all lectures 🙂

1️⃣   #DevSecOps 
DevSecOps bootcamp is still our #1 priority. We released the next few chapters already, related to Kubernetes security with secure access management using K8s RBAC and AWS IAM, plus fully automated IaC release pipeline 👇

Essentially creating 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, where no human user has write permissions to the cluster by default, and any 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 have to go through the CI/CD pipeline built for IaC repository 🚀

Few next chapters already recorded 🎙️  about:
✅  Policy as Code for enforcing secure configuration policies in K8s
✅  Secrets management in K8s using AWS Secrets Manager using external-secrets service in K8s
✅  We’ll also cover Vault and comparison between these 2 tools

This lets you securely create and manage secrets in K8s avoiding having to spread secrets everywhere from local computer to CI/CD pipeline variables.

Instead store everything in central storage like Vault or AWS secrets manager and securely fetch them into Kubernetes as K8s secrets.

In the 2nd part we have another fully automated 𝗖𝗜/𝗖𝗗 𝗽𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗖𝗜 & 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝗼𝗖𝗗 that deploys a micro services application into K8s cluster with security and production best practices.

So as you see, lots of production-grade advanced projects.

I honestly don’t believe, you learn how to do these in any other course or bootcamp 🤠

You usually only learn these things with 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. And we teach that in this bootcamp 💪

Which also means you can apply what you learn in our DevSecOps bootcamp directly at work 💼   I literally teach exactly what I would configure in real production grade projects 💁🏻‍♀️

But instead of just scraping code together from internet resources, you'll actually understand every part of what you are configuring from start to finish.

3️⃣   #Updates  in progress
This is our second largest priority, to completely re-record and update our Kubernetes Administrator course with new K8s version, new CNI plugin tool and other relevant updates.

We are working on this very intensively, so students get the updated version of the course as soon as possible. And of course, all existing students will get the updated versions automatically when we release the updates ✅

We are also almost done with DevOps Bootcamp updates.

In the last 10 months, we have re-recorded almost the entire DevOps bootcamp and updated everything with new versions. Ansible module updates are almost done and soon will be released too 🙅🏽‍♂️


As you see, ton of things are happening, lots of work to do 🤓

Basically really cool, real-life use cases which you can use directly in real projects 👍

 #DevSecOps  bootcamp part 2 - delay in the release, because we are redoing the whole thing. Discarded some of the project workflows that didn’t fit the best practices. But we do have a really good solution now and are working to finalize the projects ✊ Will keep up updated!

 #CKA  course update - a popular CNI plugin that I’m using in the course will be discontinued, and of course when this happens and affects our courses, we prioritize this and re-record the updates. 🙅🏽‍♂️ 

So we are replacing the CNI plugin in our CKA course and will release this update within the next 2 weeks to make sure our students are learning only the most up-to-date tools ✅ and keep getting the most value from our courses 😍

This was a completely unimaginable number when Nicole and I started the TechWorld with Nana channel. Fast forward 4 years and 115 videos, this unbelievable milestone is a reality 💙

I can't believe 1 million people actively decided: "know what, I'm gonna explicitly, consciously follow Nana's content and stay up-to-date with her videos" 🙀 That is insane. And I'm just extremely grateful for this journey🙏

It was definitely not an easy one, I went through all the phases of hating the creation process of some of our early videos, stress, self-doubt, imposter syndrome to eventually learning to enjoy the process, becoming very confident and finding all the positive sides of content creation & sharing my engineering knowledge ✅
