This is an incredibly interesting and thought provoking video from Adam. I still think YouTube is the best platform for education based videos, but there has been a shift.

I may or may not have spent 30+ hours on a review of a mic that might be faulty. I'm verifying this, but that means the video that I've spent the last week working on is not going live until I verify with absolute certainty that I do not have a broken mic.

For the last 6 years I’ve been using a Focursite Scarlett 2nd Gen for my mic reviews. I’ve continued using this for the sake of maintaining consistency across videos. Also, if I’m not mistaken it’s the most popular interface out there meaning it gives the widest number of people an idea of how things sound. Do you think it’s valuable to continue to use the 2nd gen or should I use a more modern interface? If I should upgrade, leave your suggestions in the replies
Keep using it

If you saw the video yesterday morning I want to clarify the video published last night isn’t just a reupload. The first 20 seconds are the same but everything after that is different. The original covered gain staging for one mic type, and I didn’t address a question that I know would be asked frequently. So instead of publishing 2 or 3 clarification videos I decided to remove the original, add additional information, and publish a more complete video. This is going to be out for years so I wanted try to make it as thorough as I am able.

In case you missed it, I just put out a review of a budget USB condenser, the Hyperx Solocast. Check it out if that's what you're into that kind of thing.

If you want audio only reviews or the higher quality audio for a recent review, you can download them via any podcatcher because Podcastage is now available as a podcast. Just search Podcastage and subscribe. It is limited to 320kbps 48khz M4a, but it bypasses any youtube compression.
