What is 50 + 50*2 = ? 

Someone emailed me 6÷2(1+2) = 1 is the correct answer. But I keep seeing 6÷2(1+2) = 9 on WolframAlpha. Can someone explain what's going on?

Help me settle an argument. I bought a cow for $800. I sold it for $1000. I bought it again for $1100. I sold it again for $1300. How much did I earn? 

The internet can't agree on the answer and someone asked me to solve this. "A book costs $1 plus half its price. How much does it cost?
