You folks got to stop with the firing Dorval Carter campaign.  The situation won't get any better under a mayor like Brandon Johnson (the mayor appoints CTA presidents).  Unless Andy Byford becomes CTA president, BE PATIENT!  With CTA lifting its vaccine mandate for employees and their aggressive hiring, service will be back to normal in due time.  If you guys want better service, leaders that will make better decisions, and better security in the system, change your voting habits.  Unfortunately there is politics involved in things like this.

Braving the cold!  ❄️

For the past two days, CTA has met various challenges in keeping the system running.  Many of the older cars have been breaking down on the Blue and Brown Lines due to the extreme cold.  As a result of the Brown Line becoming crippled with rail car shortages, an 8 car train of 5000s was borrowed from the Red Line yesterday to supplement service between Belmont and the loop.  This is the first time 5000s run on the Brown Line in revenue service since they were in-service testing in 2010.

Happy New Year, everyone.   CTA announced this afternoon that the Yellow Line (Skokie Swift) will reopen tomorrow, January 5th.  Here's a photo of 5599-5600 sitting at Skokie Yard from this afternoon.

Today is the last day you can catch the CTA's Holiday Train!  See it on the Blue Line.  

CTA announced that due to the Yellow Line still being suspended, the holiday train on that line will be canceled.  CTA and NTSB are still conducting their investigation, testing the braking systems on all series railcars on the Yellow Line with slippery conditions, and the signaling system.
