This is how steel/iron was made in the medieval era and before. This was my third attempt at making bloomery steel and this was the best quality steel so far, I got 4.6 kg of usable steel and some cast iron like stuff that I can't really use. I used about 135 kg of charcoal and 19 kg of metal scrap and shavings but a lot didn't melt so I didn't get as much as I would have hoped. Unfortunately this will be my last bloomery melt till October because fire restriction but I have MANY other projects coming up.
06:30 First charcoal addition.
12:30 First slag tapping.
13:30 Birthing the bloom.
18:20 Consolidating the bloom.
20:10 Spark tests.
