Originating with 5 pilot projects in 2020, the South Carolina Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare’s Rural Libraries and Health Cooperative Agreement Program placed health liaisons in libraries throughout the state to provide residents with services that include health information, telehealth, reproductive and behavioral health, assistance with social needs, and connections with providers. In March of 2022, a grant from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control enabled CRPH to add 4 more sites. Currently, 9 library systems are participating in the program.
