Few rock bands can claim a successful three-decade spanning career; the feat is even more impressive for women-fronted rock bands. This is one of the many reasons the name Heart is a perfect choice -- it takes quite a lot of that not only to succeed but also to persevere. Often hailed as the "female Led Zeppelin," Heart dominated the classic rock realm with their debut album, 1975's Dreamboat Annie, hitting platinum status. Songs like "Crazy On You" and "Magic Man" from the debut as well as Little Queen's "Barracuda" remain rock staples today. In the '90s the sisters remained active, forming a side project called The Lovemongers and releasing a live Heart set.
Now in the new millennium Heart continues to beat with 2004's Jupiter's Darling. Their two-part Soundstage set spans their impressive career, touching on every era along the way. In part one, songs like the revved up "Crazy On You" share equal billing with the '80s ballad-tinged "These Dreams" along with new songs from their latest record. A rarely done cover of Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" makes this Soundstage performance especially compelling.

The band Heart has gone through many manifestations since its inception in the early '70s, but what keeps Heart "pumping" are sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. Ann's voice is unmistakable, and Nancy's guitar playing is the perfect complement. On the second half of this Soundstage episode the sisters come back with a vengeance -- blazing through songs like "Barracuda" and "Even it Up." They then slow it down on the reflective "Dog and Butterfly" and "Alone."

**LYRICS**
Kickin down the darkness
Kick it on down the drain
Kill the superstition
Gotta get a state of grace
(Chorus)
It's the oldest story in the world
There is nowhere left to hide
So we take it all in stride
When there's no more asking why
There is nothing left to do
But love~baby love~baby love you
Crash the television
Thrash those games and fools
Gotta get a resolution
Better go go back to school
(Chorus)
Fair-weather friends and fair-weather cool
Righteous the right buy all the bad news
Rich up the rich and dumb down the poor
Take it no more
