Not sure how many of you actually know, but as well as all the fun piano cover arrangements, play by ear challenges, surprising people on Omegle and general music "stuff" I do on YouTube and social media - I am actually studying music in a music school - The Purcell School For Young Musicians. I stopped my classical piano studies when I received my diploma, and now do double first studies in Jazz (piano) and Composition. Here is one of my compositions - titled The Minute Etudes and was performed in our Middle School Composers' Concert which was back in November 2021. This piece was inspired by Ligeti’s Musica Ricercata, which is a piece with many movements where an extra note is added from one movement to the other. I have created 5 movements, and from this I have linked each movement with a certain motif or idea from the movement before it. Each one has its own simple musical element that is exploited throughout the piece. - I use the augmented chord in the first movement - Major chords in the second - Subdominant pedals in the third - Minor chords in the fourth - Final fifth movement was a waltz and uses a mixture of the earlier musical elements. The great thing about being a composer in a Music school is that you can ask your friends to play your compositions, and what is even greater than that is that they are all amazing musicians! As a composer, whilst you provide guidance and direction, you get to hear other people's interpretations of your music which is really something special.
