In this video, I take a look inside the new Turnigy 9XR and see how well it's been designed and built.
The answer is "very well indeed". Although not too much has been changed from the old 9X transmitter, the 9XR has some welcomed improvements and new features.
The ER9X software also makes a huge difference to the radio, allowing 16 models to be stored and delivering far more programming power than (for instance) the DX7 or even the DX8.
In short, although I still feel that Turnigy could have done a lot better with the ergonomics of the 9XR, I have to concede that it represents tremendous value -- value that is unequaled by any other radio on the market today.
Until they add those sliders on the side of the case and fix the awful buddy-box switch placement, I won't be able to throw away my JR and Hitec radios away just yet, but perhaps when they release the 9XR2, I will.
