Movies like "Braveheart," "Robinhood," "A Knight’s Tale," and "Henry V" all paint the Middle Ages as a time filled with chivalrous knights and heroes, beautiful maidens who need to be rescued or avenged, and halls of kings flowing with wine and deer meat. In reality, the Middle Ages were called the Dark Ages for a reason. It was when a few rich men ruled over the majority of the population and if their subjects went against them, they would punish them with indescribable methods of torture or death.
