How we spent a Night on our Boat in the Dry Tortugas National Park
The Dry Tortugas is made up of 7 islands totaling 100 square miles. Whether youโre a history buff, nature enthusiast or avid fisherman, the Dry Tortugas is a must visit.
At the heart of it all, lies Garden Key, home to Fort Jefferson. Fort Jefferson was built in the 1800โs to protect North America. With the location of the Tortugas being along one of the worldโs busiest shipping lanes, it made for a great military asset for the United States. Today, the Fort is only reachable by boat or seaplane. The good news is if you donโt have your own vessel to run over in, you can catch a ferry!
We ran our 33' Invincible 90 miles from Big Pine Key to our fishing spot on the North side of the park before heading in to the harbor to spend the night!
