As with any TV show based on a true story, the miniseries Waco takes some liberties with its source material. This is almost inevitable with the story of the Branch Davidians, however, as we will never know who fired the first shot at their compound in Waco, Texas. The Paramount miniseries is based on survivor David Thibodeau’s book, A Place Called Waco, as well as Gary Noesner’s book, Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator.
