One of the most common questions I get is: How did I find a remote job?
The truth is I didn’t.
I was working at my first job as a software developer 👩🏻💻 and was getting very tired of driving to the office for 40 minutes each way (due to traffic) and working from an office in general. It was dark and unwelcoming in the office which is a standard for most tech companies.
After working for one year, I couldn’t take it any longer and decided to talk to my manager. It led to me giving them an ultimatum to let me work remotely or I’d quit and look for a remote job in another company.
And they said yes! I was allowed to work remotely and I’m so glad I brought my issues to my company instead of quietly looking for another job.
It was such a great decision for me because I was feeling my best and healthiest and I could continue the job I loved from the comfort of my own home.
