Biden also warned that Russia could launch a direct attack on a NATO nation if President Putin triumphed in Ukraine. Meanwhile, a Russian court on April 24 ordered one of Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu's deputies be kept in custody. Timur Ivanov has been detained on suspicion of taking bribes, the highest-profile corruption case since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The deputy defence minister is accused of taking a large-scale bribe, defined in Russia's penal code as accepting corrupt payments amounting to over 1 million rubles (over $10,500). Ivanov was detained on April 23 at work by the Federal Security Service (FSB) and will remain in custody until June 23.
