R 1200 GS Hassliebe Teil 3 - Love hate part 3 (120.000 km)
Please find the English text below:
Hello everybody
We have mid-October and another wonderful day.
Probably one of the last in this motorcycle summer season.
We used the day to go on a tour with our Adventure.
We are currently taking a break at the Aachquelle.
I want to use the time for a short update on the current situation with our GS.
We have found a solution to significantly improve the spraying of the rear wheel on wet roads.
Later in the video, the details.
Advance information on the current state of our Adventure.
She currently has about 120,000 km on the clock.
The Adventure is still running pretty well.
The problems she initially had, are getting better and better.
Some problems have even disappeared completely.
In particular, the gearbox can be switched manually quite well in the meantime.
The development is comparable to a good red wine -
As he gets older, he gets better and better.
As already reported in Hassliebe Part 2, the engine went out of the way several times after pulling the clutch.
This phenomenon has meanwhile become so much stronger that the engine is running off at an average of about 500 km twice.
So today on today's tour 2 times.
This is a nuisance for us.
Especially because our BMW service does not find the cause.
In a comment to my previous video, the same problem was described by another GS driver.
The engine is in running off abruptly after pulling the clutch. It must then be restarted.
This is by and large the current state of our adventure.
Now the announced information to the rear wheel.
How could we significantly improve spraying on wet roads?
I'll show you a short video now. This shows the situation before the use of our improvement.
You see in the video how the street dirt has stretched up to the seat.
(1. Videoclip)
The video should have convinced you that the situation was not good.
Especially because the sandy stuff has penetrated into all joints and gaps.
In the following video you can see the effect of the component.
Also after a ride on a wet track.
(2. Video)
I think both videos speak for themselves.
And now I'll show you what the improvement does.
(3. Videoclip)
One or the other has certainly recognized it.
It's the rider for the main stand of the new R1250GS Adventure.
It is a plastic part. It has a spoiler in the rear area.
The component is attached to the main stand with four thick cable ties.
The assembly takes only a few minutes.
Maybe one or the other will remember my Youtube video about the R1250GS Adventure. In it I had wondered how clean the rear of the bike after a rain ride was. I had promised to seek the cause.
Now the puzzle is solved. The difference lies in the plastic component on the main stand.
I suspect that the air flow at the bottom of the rear of the motorcycle no longer leads to excessive turbulence. And thereby the spray is more clearly derived to the rear.
In the end, it does not matter. The part works.
And I can anyone the dirt at the rear as disturbing as we recommend to assemble the part.
And now I'll show you where we are here.
We are at the Aachquelle. It is the largest source in Germany.
At the entrance, where our Adventure stands, is a blackboard. There you can read how many hundreds of cubic meters of water per minute escape here.
A wonderful place here.
And a swan on the water makes the view of our Adventure even more romantic.
I hope you enjoyed the video.
I wish you all a good and accident-free time.
As well as a nice rest of the motorcycle season.
Thank you for watching.
Best regards, Felix
