Is Linux obsolete? What about virtualization and containerization are they just relics of the past?
MirageOS is a Xen and Linux Foundation incubator project: https://mirage.io/
Today I am laying the ground work to answer those three questions and lay out the ground work for MirageOS. I talk about the evolution of operating systems and how they led us to virtualization and containerization. Unikernels began almost 25 years ago and laid out the present course for a project led by Xen to develop the nextgen platform for running applications and services in a protected environment. So today it is a 30,000 foot level overview of this technology which will lead into future videos that dive down into what MirageOS is and how it works, then we will actually build our own unikernel and run it on both linux a hypervisor directly, without any guest OS at all.
