To be clear, there is no “safe way” to work in this industry. There are “safer ways”, but nothing we do is ever safe. The methods I used for this hazard removal should not be attempted by others without the proper training, experience, and equipment. All trees are different, and some may not be suitable to rig from. Assess every situation for its unique considerations.
There are other techniques to take on these hazard trees, such as working with a crane company and/or propping with structural framing underneath. We had no crane access here, nor material available to build an A-frame. I assessed the situation and assumed the risk for this rig. This video is not designed to make you think that the methods used here will make a job like this “safe”. It is only to help you think about SOME of the important safety considerations and a FEW ways to mitigate the risks.
