In this video I cover how to install and play Apex Legends on Linux with full working multiplayer.
Step 1. Enable Steam Proton Experimental.
Navigate to Steam / Settings / Steam Play and tick both Enable Steam Play for supported titles and Enable Steam Play for all other titles.
This should select Proton Experimental by default, which is what we want.
Restart Steam to apply.
Step 2. Install Apex Legends.
Install the game as normal, launch the game, set your graphical settings and then close the game.
Step 3. Remove Stuttering When Playing A Match.
Historically, out of the box, matches were very choppy and virtually unplayable which was caused by the game compiling shaders in the background.
However since the added support of graphic pipeline library in the Nvidia 520.56.06 proprietary driver (and equivalent for AMD), this is no longer the case, as the shaders will now compile whilst in the menus.
So make sure that you are running the latest supported GPU driver for your hardware.
