Quake is a first-person shooter video game developed by id Software and published by GT Interactive, originally released in June 1996 for MS-DOS, and later ported to other platforms. The game follows the protagonist, Ranger, who is sent to stop an enemy code-named Quake from invading Earth through interdimensional portals called slipgates.
