I said it's mid-priced because high-end robots like the S9 and Ecovacs T8 are priced in the $700 to $1,000 range. There are a lot of differences which I'll summarize in this video. Both robots are excellent at cleaning hard floors and carpets. The S5 Max has a better smartphone app with more features and the ability to mop floors. In comparison, the Roomba 980 is the better option on carpets thanks to the counter-rotating brushes and dirt detect that does extra passes on dirtier areas. However, it lacks containment features found in the S5 Max. So it boils down to your preferences. Do you want a robot with containment features capable of mopping floors, or do you want a robot that can keep your carpets tidy?
