SEAT Leon Cupra v. Cupra Leon: Old School Meets New School Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession (apologies for the small hiatus). Recently(ish) I had the new Cupra Leon on test and whilst I had it I put it up against my very own Mk2 SEAT Leon Cupra otherwise known as 'Leo'. 14 years may separate the two cars, but in fact they are very similar. For example, they both use a 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine, which feeds power to the front wheels. There is a difference in transmissions, though - the old (but gold) Leon makes use of a 6-speed manual, whereas the new car is only available with a 7-speed DSG. There is a difference in power as well. The old car offers 240hp and 300Nm of torque whereas the new car offers 300hp with 400Nm of torque. 62mph is done in 6.5 seconds, which is improved to 5.7 seconds in the new car - progress. Both cars share virtually the same top speed; the old car maxes out at 153 and the new car is 155mph, although that is limited. Numbers are only part of the story, though, how do the cars make you feel?
