And maybe, like me, you’ve been a little concerned about how inflation and rising interest rates might affect your utility holdings. I own several utilities. They aren’t my most exciting investments, and that’s by design. They provide a steady hand to balance out the more volatile stocks in my portfolio. And, of course, I really like that they deliver reliable dividends that grow steadily, year after year after year. Utilities make up about 13% of my portfolio. … So I have to admit that I was a little worried when it became obvious that the Federal Reserve was going to start raising interest rates. After all, it’s a pretty well-accepted theory that a rising-rate environment weighs on the stock prices of utilities. … But should we all accept that theory as fact, without question?
