This part of the review was made after my initial flight experiences with the Runner 250 from Walkera. Unfortunately, the quad feels extremely loose and the poor video antennas meant that FPV range was very limited.
In order to avoid "the flip of death", the throttle control needs to be trimmed so that the motors are "just" spinning but due to the design of the flight controller, ESCs and motors, this means that there is about 340g of residual thrust -- far too much to make landings easy or to dodge low-hanging tree branches.
As you can see in the video, the OSD displays a whole lot of nothingness because most of the display elements are zero, due to a lack of GPS on this machine.
I also note that this is not a 100% carbon frame -- it is a fiberglass frame with carbon skins.
If Walkera want to create a real "mini quad racer in a box" then they're going to have to lift their game and get some sensible advice. Until then, I would have to say that this is more of a flash toy that looks like a racing miniquad. Let's hope they can lift their game.
