Did you know the Chinchorro culture in South America mummified their dead more than 2,000 years before the Egyptians?
The Chinchorro people lived in the Atacama Desert in Chile and Peru. They mummified their deceased relatives by removing the internal organs and preserving their bodies with resin. The mummies have been found to be carbon dated back to 6,000 BC and are believed to be one of the oldest examples of human mummification.
