Israel early on Friday retaliated against Iran with limited air strikes targeting the region housing the nerve centre of the Islamic state’s nuclear programme, US officials said.
There was no significant destruction reported after reports of explosions near the city of Isfahan in central Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed no damage to Iranian nuclear sites.
The strikes were not confirmed by Israel but US officials said the country had
delivered on its threats of retaliation after coming under an unprecedented direct attack from Iran involving more than 300 drones and missiles, which were nearly all shot down, on Saturday night.
