With origins as part of Idaho’s rural graduate medical education programs, in 2017 the Targeted Rural Health Education (TRHE) came to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences (UNDSMHS). The project’s core objectives are the participating students’ use of health literacy [or plain language] principles and public health data access in order to write a health education article publishable in a rural community newspaper. In addition to students, faculty and staff, the project’s key stakeholders are the newspaper editors.
