During the first trips to the Moon in the Apollo program, astronauts brought back some rocks and soil to study and tried to grow a seed in it. To their surprise, it only took 2 days to see little green leaves and 6 days for them to be properly visible. Even though the lunar plants didn't continue growing after day 6, they survived and were harvested 20 days later.
