Spring is coming and the stores are full of red hearts and candy. What does science have to tell us about how we fall in love, and with who? What makes us swipe left or right, and does that have anything to do with successful relationships? Joining us to discuss these questions and more are two psychologists who study attraction and attachment:
- Paul Eastwick is a professor of psychology and runs the Attraction and Relationships Research Laboratory at UC Davis. He investigates how people initiate romantic relationships and the psychological mechanisms that keep couples happy and committed to each other.
- Karen Bales is a professor of psychology at UC Davis and leads the Neuroscience and Behavior Unit at the California National Primate Research Center. She studies the neurobiology of pair-bonding and biparental care in prairie voles and titi monkeys, species that form lasting monogamous bonds.
As a reminder, we are taking your questions during this livestream broadcast. Leave them in the comment section and we'll do our best to have our experts answer your questions on the next UC Davis LIVE: Romance, Relationships, and Attachment Science on Thursday, February 10, at 11 a.m. PST.
