Nitrux is a Linux desktop distribution directly based on Debian Unstable (SID). Nitrux includes NX Desktop and NX Firewall on the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment and MauiKit and KDE Applications.
Nitrux has a three prong means of adding applications to Nitrux
1. pkcon which is used to replace apt and adds packages from Debian Unstable (SID) to the Nitrux baseline
2. homebrew, yeah its the same homebrew as you will find on MacOS. You can use this to install applications (GUI and nonGUI) when you are unable to find them as an AppImage
3. AppImage is the prefered way to add GUI applications to Nitrux, you can add them from the Nitrux Store or you can go directtly to the AppImage Hub and download then, all you need to do to execute them is add change the file permissions on the AppImage to allow it to execute.
Nitrux includes a suite of convergent applications called Maui Apps. Notrux used MauiKit, to create applications with convergent, and cross-platform UI framework.
Nitrux provides a set of curated applications which are free and open-source. Proprietary software is omitted by design, but if you insist these applications can be added by the three ways listed above.
Nitrux is always up-to-date, thanks to using the latest Debian base and to the effort of the KDE Neon developers, who provide the latest stable releases of Plasma. Nitrux also provides its users with the latest MESA drivers from Git and kernels optimized for intensive tasks such as gaming with XanMod and Liquorix.
